A common mistake when filtering the node list

· 2 min read

The Mudfish program has a "Setup → Nodes" menu that can sometimes cause confusion. Consider this example:

  • A user in South Korea plays World of Tanks and wants to connect to its Europe (Germany) game server.
  • The user selects the DE Europe (Germany - Lightsail) node under "Setup → Nodes" and continues.

To choose the node that carries the game's traffic, select it in the World of Tanks item settings. The node list filter only controls which nodes are available to choose from.

Estimate your ping without installing Mudfish

· One min read

On the Mudfish Forums, we often receive this question:

Will Mudfish really lower my ping? If so, by how much?

This used to be difficult to answer for several reasons:

  • We did not know the RTT (round-trip time) between the user's computer and the roughly 500 Mudfish nodes.
  • We did not have an internal service for quickly estimating ping.

As a result, we often suggested installing Mudfish and testing it directly. That was easy advice to give, but it was not especially helpful to someone trying Mudfish for the first time.
